Mahape Vada Pav
Been in Mumbai, ok not Mumbai but navi Mumbai. There is
really a vast difference in the both these cities, the only commonality being Mumbai
and of course the Vada Pav. Vada pav is a world famous in Mumbai (as its
usually said).
Going back to the history of Vada pav, The Vada pav was first
made by Mr. Ashok Vaidya a snack vendor
near Dadar station. This was way back in mid 1900
The Vada is a also called batata vada, where Batata is for
potato. Pav is form of unsweetened bread
also know as Bun. Both Batata and Pav came through Portuguese where Batata is
potato and Pav is Pao.
Auntyji - DAKC Gate No. - 3 |
Coming back to Navi Mumbai.
I work in Millennium business park, Mahape. There are 3 major vendors.
One near the Mahape bus stand and other 2 opposite DAKC gate no. 3.
The first one, has a flattened the Vada, , however it’s not
the best. The next one at gate no. 3 is made by Auntyji. Vada pav is one of the
items she sells which include kanda bhajiya, samosa and other types of bhajiya.
It’s a regular shape and size of the vada. And then we talk about the 3rd
vendor Pandit (For loaction click below) who only sells Vada pav. The worst thing is that it is always
crowded, but then that means you always get a fresh and hot Vada. The Vada is
round in shape and of good size. The outer crust is crispy and then the batata
has a perfect taste. When the vada goes into the Pav it becomes the best Vada
Pav in the Navi Mumbai.
This guy usually starts at around 4.00 pm and closes off by
9.00pm. He charges Rs. 6.00 per vada pav. So next time you are in Manape, Navi Mumabi and want a vada pav, you need
to shout “ए पंडित एक वडा पाव देना" "A pandit ek Vadapav de na” Have it and enjoy it..
Wanted to add to your Vada Pav Shop . You get the spicest Vada pav's at Raghuleela Mall food court.
